A driver has escaped with minor injuries after his car plunged down a 15-metre rock wall in Sydney.
The car came to rest near the bottom of stairs near the light rail track at Glebe but the incident is not disrupting services.
The driver, believed to be in his 70s, was conscious when ambulance paramedics arrived and he was treated at the scene.
He has been taken to nearby Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Fire Rescue NSW was able to force the door of the car open to remove the man from the bottom of a 15-metre wall, Acting Superintendent Mat Sigmund said.
"The car has somehow come down that wall and those sandstone steps with the driver still in the vehicle," he said.
Local resident Sylvia Sagi said the 70-year-old man is a friend of hers, who was on his way to visit.
"He was coming to my house, we were going to the doctors, and I thought he was going to walk up but he ended up driving," she said.
Ms Sagi said she had been told by paramedics her friend will be OK.
"It's a miracle he's alive. It's shocking, I'm in shock."
"I've known him 30 years, he's a lovely guy."
Ms Sagi said her friend may have been affected by a medical episode.
"They [paramedics] haven't told me what his injuries are," she said.
"He was in and out of consciousness but they said he'd be OK, so let's hope for the best."
Craig Klineberg was sitting in a car close by when the vehicle crashed through a fence and fell a few metres away.
"The noise was very, very loud like a train crash," he said.
He spoke to the driver, who was conscious, while neighbours called triple zero.
