In a horror night for Labor party, it looks to have lost the heartland seat of Ipswich West and the premier says he's heard Queenslanders' message.
"I was expecting a bad result and they're even worse than that," Miles said.
"It was always gonna take more than three months for us to turn around on those big picture issues like cost of living and community safety."
The government will retain Inala despite a massive swing of more than 20 per cent in the once ultra safe seat.
But Labor has been dealt a blow to its heartland, losing Ipswich West with a 17 per cent swing.
The LNP's Darren Zanow is now heading into parliament.
It's only the fourth time in 64 years Labor has lost the seat.
"I met a lot of Queenslanders that were placing their faith in us for the first time and that is never lost on me the magnitude of that," Opposition Leader David Crisafulli said.
The recriminations and post mortems will now start for Labor, who are facing a potential wipe out if they can't change the political mood between now and the October state wide election.
The new Premier is accusing the LNP of using youth crime to win votes.
"They've done very, very good at sensationalising and politicising crime for their own political benefit," Miles said.
But the opposition claims it's the government responsible for dodgy tactics, saying Australian Workers Union members were posing as supporters of the Legalise Cannabis party - and handing fraudulent how to vote cards - to trick voters into preferencing Labor.
"Yesterday, we saw the deceit, lies, misrepresentation, misleading on the booths in full display," Deputy Opposition Leader Jarrod Bleijie said.
A complaint will soon be made to the electoral commission.
Meanwhile Adrian Schrinner has been re-elected Lord Mayor of Brisbane, holding off Labor and the Greens in a fierce three-way contest.
Tom Tate remains Gold Coast mayor too. That fourth win is a record for the Gold Coast.
The Quirk review will recommend a new $3.4 billion stadium should be built at Victoria Park - which is currently Brisbane City Council green space.
If that was to happen it would mean the full Gabba redevelopment would not go ahead.
But the final decision on this will be up to the state government.
