A woman has sustained life-threatening injuries after she was trapped in a vehicle when three cars collided in Melbourne.
The cars were travelling near the intersection of Melville Rd and Albion St in Brunswick West just after 10am on Saturday when they became involved in the collision.
A 49-year-old woman who was driving one of the cars was trapped for a short time before she was freed and rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of another car, a 31-year-old man, fled the scene but was stopped my members of the public nearby.
He was taken to hospital, where he remains under police guard.
The driver of the third car was not injured in the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by police, and a cause is yet to be determined.
