It wasn't quite the "smashing guitars" episode from the Sydney 2000 Olympics, but the parliamentary press gallery has continued its aquatic dominance on Capital Hill.
The annual politicians vs press gallery swimming race was held in the early hours of this morning, with four teams doing battle.
Despite the Coalition not usually wanting to talk about "on-water matters", it's worth noting it was a tight competition at the head of the field.
The lead changed between the journos and Coalition over the first couple of legs, before the press pulled away and cruised to victory.
Labor made it on to the podium in third place, while the crossbench rounded out the field.
As ever, sport was the real winner (but the trophy is proudly on display in the ABC bureau and the water-logged journos are feeling pretty chipper/smug about it).
