Screams from Perth home led police to find alleged murder scene - 9News

Several calls from neighbours and family after screaming was heard at a home in Perth's north led to police finding a woman's body.

Officers were called to the Landsdale home about 8.30pm on Monday after neighbours reportedly heard "screaming noises and obvious signs of a disturbance" coming from the property.

A 51-year-old woman was found dead at the home on Hardcastle Avenue, with "multiple wounds" to her body.

The sounds of fighting had echoed along the street before sudden silence.

"My neighbour said she heard screams and yells and it all just happened really quick," one person told 9News.

"There was also calls from family members concerned for the welfare of the victim," Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen Cleal said.

Security cameras captured a car arriving and someone appearing to shine a torch around the property.

Police arrived within minutes but the woman was found dead just before 9pm.

A 55-year-old man, understood to be the victim's ex-partner, was taken out of the house in a wheelchair under heavy restraint and taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

"There is no harm to the community and it is apparent the injuries to the male are self-inflicted," Cleal said.

He remains in hospital under police guard at Royal Perth Hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. Police expect to interview him at the earliest opportunity.

In the meantime, authorities have seized "some items of significance" from the home and are investigating whether a weapon was used.

The house is expected to remain a crime scene for a number of days as police continue their investigations.

Neighbours have expressed concerns about community safety since the woman's body was found.

"I know there are a lot of people that come and go from there," one told 9News.

"There were about 40 of us standing around going, 'Are we safe?'

"That was the worst of it I think."

Another neighbour said: "Plenty of other nice people in the street so it's not too concerning but just strange two doors up."
