A person has died and three others have been seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash at the bottom of Bulli Pass, a major feeder road north of Wollongong.
At about 1:50pm today emergency services were called to Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Thirroul, following reports of a crash between a car and truck.
Multiple fire, police and ambulance crews and three helicopters rushed to the crash site.
Paramedics treated four people, one of whom died at the scene.
The three injured patients – one female and two male – have been airlifted to St George, Liverpool and Westmead hospitals.
New South Wales Ambulance has confirmed the three injured patients are in critical conditions.
Traffic on Lawrence Hargrave Drive, the main coastal road between Bulli and Helensburgh, is blocked in both directions.
Bulli Pass connects the Princes Motorway to Lawrence Hargrave Drive, where traffic is often heavy, particularly in the affluent northern suburbs of Wollongong where Thirroul is situated.
