How police allege the murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies unfolded - 9News

The senior constable has been charged with two counts of murder and remains behind bars after being denied bail, while investigators continue to piece together how the two men were allegedly killed and what Lamarre-Condon allegedly did in the aftermath.

While much of the timeline still remains unclear, this is what police say they know about the alleged double murder.

Gunshots are heard at Baird's Paddington home at around 9.50am by neighbours. Police say witness reports vary between hearing one shot or several. One used cartridge is found at the scene days later.

A triple-zero call is made at 9.54am from Baird's phone, although it disconnects before anything is said or heard.

Police allege Baird and Davies were murdered on Monday morning by Lamarre-Condon using a service pistol that had been signed out from Miranda Police Station on Thursday, February 8, for a "user pays event" - an additional shift paid for by an external organiser.

Lamarre-Condon is alleged to have then hired a white Toyota HiAce van from a rental company in Mascot later that evening. Police say he used that van to dispose of Baird and Davies' bodies.

Police allege Lamarre-Condon made "partial admissions" to an acquaintance about being involved in the deaths of two people.

Bloodied clothing and other items belonging to Baird and Davies, including an $8000 watch, credit card and wallet, are found in a skip bin in Cronulla at 11am, causing police to launch a missing persons investigation. The Homicide Squad is also notified.

A crime scene is set up at Baird's Paddington home at 1pm after a "significant" amount of blood is found there and police visit Davies' home in nearby Waterloo at 2pm.

On the same day, police allege Lamarre-Condon went to the Bungonia area, in the NSW Southern Tablelands, with a female friend. Police say she "was not involved in anything", is an "innocent agent", and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

At the property, the angle grinder was allegedly used to sever a padlock, which was replaced by the padlock bought from the hardware store.

Police say the friend was left at a gate at the top of the property for half an hour when Lamarre-Condon disappeared in the HiAce, before he returned and the two went back to Sydney in the afternoon.

At 11pm, Lamarre-Condon is alleged to have bought weights from a department store before returning to the same property in Bungonia. Police claim he may have been suspicious of his friend and may have returned to the property to remove the bodies.

Police say their timeline on Thursday still has some gaps in it, and have appealed for public assistance to help fill them in.

What they have said is that Lamarre-Condon had the white HiAce in his possession throughout the day, allegedly leaving Bungonia for Sydney at about 4.30am.

Later in the day, he is alleged to have driven to the property of a different acquaintance – a former police officer – property in Newcastle, where he asked for a hose to clean the HiAce "without disclosing any criminality".

News of Baird and Davies' disappearance breaks around lunchtime, before police hold a press conference where they appeal for public assistance, saying they hold "grave concerns" for the missing men.

In the evening, it is reported police are searching for a serving officer over the couple's disappearance.

At 11pm, officers raid the home of one of Lamarre-Condon's family members in the Sydney suburb of Balmain, where they seize several items.

Lamarre-Condon allegedly leaves Newcastle around 5am, arriving back in Sydney at about 6.15am.

The white Toyota HiAce is found by police in the southern Sydney suburb of Grays Point, near the Royal National Park.

At 10.39am, he hands himself in at Bondi police station. He is arrested, transferred to Waverley Police Station and in the afternoon charged with the murders of Baird and Davies.

Monday, February 26

Police continue the search at the Bungonia property. They say Lamarre-Condon has refused to assist the investigation to find the bodies.

They also allege, based upon claims from Baird's friends, that Lamarre-Condon went to Baird's home after the pair broke up at the end of 2023, getting access to the property with a key, taking Baird's phone and deleting contacts and messages from the device.
