A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder.

The accused is a refugee from Sudan, who arrived in Australia with his family 16 years ago when he was a baby.

Three other teenagers have also faced court in relation to the alleged murder, all charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

White's daughter Cindy Micallef and her family have joined the African community to call for action in the fight against youth violence.

But Micallef fears Premier Steven Miles is not standing with them after he told reporters "nobody can seriously stand up and say they could have prevented this murder".

Miles was unaware at the time that the accused had been out on bail at the time of the alleged murder.

"You know what, I was really glad he said it because I'm like, 'You're not the man for the job if you can't reassure people in the community this is the utmost priority'," Micallef said.

"We all need to feel safe."

Micallef called for support for the African community that has been targeted after her mother's death.

"You don't judge the whole community by a couple of bad apples," she said.
