Good evening. It's Wednesday, March 2. Here's what's been happening today.
One thing to know right now: Evacuation orders have been issued in NSW
Here's the latest:
- An evacuation order has been issued for several streets in North Richmond, due to the likely failure of Redbank Dam. The NSW SES says communities below the dam are likely to experience flooding and residents should leave the area now.
- The Hawkesbury River to Sydney's north-west is expected to exceed major flood levels (10.5 metres) tonight, with waters predicted to peak around 14 metres on Thursday. The NSW SES said significant river rises have also been recorded along the Nepean River, where major flooding is also possible on Wednesday evening. The floods are expected to have an impact on communities around Penrith, Windsor, North Richmond and Menangle.
- The death toll of the NSW floods has risen to four. The body of a man in his 70s was found in a Lismore unit this afternoon. The other victims have been identified as 84-year-old Lorraine Hyman, 82-year-old Marge Graham and Stuart Bock.
Another big story today: Ukraine's death toll has risen
- The Governor of Kharkiv said 21 people were killed after shelling from Russia in the last 24 hours. Oleh Synyehubov said another 112 people were injured from the attacks.
- In Zhytomyr, 120 kilometres west of Kyiv, four people were killed when homes were hit by a Russian cruise missile apparently aimed at a nearby air base, an adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Minister said. Anton Gerashchenko said homes near the base of the 95th Airborne Brigade in Zhytomyr had been set on fire.
- Meanwhile, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the European Union to prove it stands with Ukraine in its war with Russia, a day after signing an official request to join the bloc. His speech brought interpreters to tears and prompted a standing ovation. Take a look:

One more thing: The PM's close contact list
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has tested positive for COVID-19 after coming down with symptoms earlier this week.
ABC reporter Jake Evans took a look at who the PM has been in close contact with lately and, well, that includes several senior government ministers.
Yesterday, the PM attended a National Security Committee meeting with fellow cabinet ministers.
While many attended the three-hour meeting remotely, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, Defence Minister Peter Dutton, Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews and Special Minister of State Ben Morton attended in person. Mr Morton said he tested positive this morning.
Mr Morrison is now in isolation at Kirribilli House.
That's it for the day
We'll be back tomorrow with more.
