Grab an umbrella on your way out the door — it's going to be a wet day in Houston.

The wet weather should subside by around 7 p.m. when the storms move east into Louisiana.

Strong winds are the primary threat, but a brief tornado is possible, meteorologists said. The storms are expected to dump 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall, but the hardest-hit isolated spots could be inundated with up to 4 inches, according to the weather service.

Street flooding is possible in urban areas or places with poor drainage.

Stronger storms and more severe weather would likely occur closer to the coast and offshore.
