Premier Berejiklian was asked if she stood by allowing the SCG test going ahead
Question: There's been a lot of criticism about the cricket going ahead. Do you stand by the decision?
Answer: We stand by our decision to make sure we're able to to provide COVID-safe event.
As Dr Chant said, if we need to reevaluate some of our settings, update the compliance, the compliance measures and the safety plan, we won't hesitate to do that.
We won't estate to do that. But if there is an opportunity for us to hold events that are we should also proceed on that because at the end of the day what's on the line, yes, community safety always comes first and I hope we have demonstrated during the course of this year that we have always put community health and safety first.
But we also have to keep jobs going, we don't want to see more people out of their job, out of their livelihood.
And we want to make sure we try to have a sense of normality and if we can do that in a safe way, we should.
But if anything changes, it's evolving, it if we have to improve the settings or make things tighter or stricter, we won't hesitate to do that.
Community safety always comes first.
But if there's an opportunity for us to also protect jobs and to improve the morale of our citizens and keep mental health high and to try to have a sense of normality, why shouldn't we strive for that?
