The body of an elderly man who had been missing since Tuesday from Sydney’s northern beaches was found on Saturday.
Richard Gottschald, aged 81, was last seen at his home in Manly at 5pm on Tuesday.
When attempts to locate him – including an SMS campaign and search operation – failed, Northern Beaches Police Area Command officers made a public appeal for help in finding him.
Police and family members held fears for his safety as he had a condition that required medication.
Emergency services were called to Manly Beach just before 12.30pm on Saturday and officers from the Marine Area Command retrieved his body from the water.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
