STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Beans and Leaves owner Megan Coppola found herself in a “now or never” situation. She recently committed to an expansion that will double her seating in West Brighton, a new venture that will see a broadened, all-day breakfast program.
Coppola said, “It’s a terrifying time to take this on, but the opportunity presented itself and had an expiration date. We are slated to be fully operational in our revamped space within the next 10 days.” While renovations are underway Coppola promises to keep the original shop space open as much as possible each day.

“The former nail salon is going to be full seating and, once allowed and safe, we will be able to have parties and bridal/baby showers,” said Coppola. On the fresh menu, Staten Islanders will find an Out-Of-This-World Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Combo, a BLT sandwich smothered with special aioli plus savory, tricked-out waffle plates. Pancakes will make a return to Beans and Leaves.
Coppola explained, “We don’t want to stray far from what we do and do well with, but would like to add a few options based on requests we have had over the years.”
The North Shore shop takes pre-orders for holiday deliveries. Patrons can all Megan directly on her cell phone at 646-523-5398. Beans offers pickup and delivery of all bulk coffee, breakfast trays and catering Island-wide. Items can also be shipped nationwide.
Hours of the shop are 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and will be extended next week to accommodate holiday shoppers. Beans and Leaves will stay open later on Thursday, Dec. 10 as the Forest Avenue BID presents a holiday stroll from 5 to 7 p.m. Santa Claus will come to town and appear on Forest Avenue from Broadway to Hart Boulevard during those times.
