Bizarre video of ex-Seven producer emerges - news.com.au

A new character in the Bruce Lehrmann defamation saga filmed himself smashing his former colleagues’ golf clubs before posting it on social media last October.

The extraordinary footage of Taylor Auerbach, a former producer on Seven’s flagship Spotlight, emerged a day before he is due to take the stand in the high stakes case against journalist Lisa Wilkinson and Network 10.

The footage, which was obtained by The Australian, showed the 32-year-old smiling while destroying the golf clubs that belonged to his former colleague, Steve Jackson.

He begins the video by waving at the camera. Staring directly down the barrel, he then snaps a club over his knee, celebrating before chucking it to the ground.

The rest of the footage, which was slowed down for dramatic effect, shows him go about the destruction of the remaining clubs.

But he had to resort to whacking one of the clubs on the floor and against a wall before he eventually hit a sweet spot, dislodging the head of the club.

He waved the broken stick at the camera before the footage ended.

According to The Australian, the caption that accompanied the video posted in October read: “Merry Christmas, sue me” with a laughing emoji, but is no longer on his social media.

It’s not clear why he targeted Mr Jackson’s club but the pair have been involved in a bitter public falling out in recent weeks.

Mr Auerbach, 32, was involved in two exclusive interviews with Mr Lehrmann.

Across three explosive affidavits filed by Ten, Mr Auerbach accused the former Liberal staffer of giving the Spotlight program material that was not previously in the public domain.

Mr Lehrmann has previously denied providing documents or photographs to the program.

He testified during the defamation trial that he only gave the network an interview.

Mr Auerbach flew from New Zealand to Sydney and was spotted outside of his home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Wednesday.

He will give evidence at 2.15pm on Thursday.
