Man remains behind bars after charged with mum's alleged murder in NSW house fire - 9News

Nerol Doble, 65, was found suffering severe burns in her Bribbaree home, 50km north-west of Young, yesterday afternoon after a suspected arson attack on the property.

She was treated at the scene before being flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney in a critical condition but died at 3am today.

Nerol moved to the property a year ago, selling her home in Portland to clear her debts and enjoy retirement.

Her 42-year-old son, Shannon Doble, was arrested at Parkes police station.

He was charged with domestic violence murder, causing wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder (domestic violence), damage to property by fire/explosion greater than $15,000 (domestic violence), and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence).

Shannon Doble faced court today where he was refused bail.

He will return to court in March.

Investigators were back at the scene this morning where neighbours had put Nerol in an outdoor bathtub, trying to save her life.

It's understood Shannon Doble was living in a converted bus on the property and had moved there to help his mum renovate.

Nerol has been remembered as someone "loved by all her family".

Her family said she will be sadly missed.

"It is a tragedy for everybody especially a community where violence and trauma such as this isn't part of our everyday life," Hilltops Mayor Margaret Roles said.
