Live updates: Severe storm hits Perth causing major power outage across hills area - PerthNow

Thousands were without power as hail, strong winds and rain smashed the Perth Hills area.

At about 12.30pm on Tuesday, the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lower Chittering and Red Hill.

Western Power reported 69 active outages just before 2pm, with the majority of those affecting suburbs in the Perth Hills.

Doodenanning, Greenhills, North Tammin, Youndegin and Badgin were just some of the areas experiencing no power.

The storm was understood to be moving south, and was tipped to reach Brigadoon, Bullsbrook and Gidgegannup by 1.05 pm and Ellenbrook, Kalamunda, Midland, Mundaring and Wundowie by 1.35 pm.
