A South Australian man has been found dead in outback Queensland following a two-day search.

The 25-year-old was reported missing on Sunday afternoon in the Durham area, near the SA border.

Police, SES personnel and mustering helicopters were involved in the search.

The man had been travelling in convoy with a friend when their vehicles became bogged.

It was understood they started walking to find help but became separated when the other person turned back.

The remote area has reached temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius in recent days.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
