At about 3pm on Tuesday, police were called to a street in Schofields after reports a car had struck a house.
Officers found a 38-year-old man with serious injuries. Police allege he was struck by the car before it crashed into the house.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the car, a 44-year-old woman, was arrested before she was taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition.
She was released from hospital at about 8am yesterday and charged with causing wounding or grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder and causing grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
She was refused bail and appeared at court yesterday, where she was formally refused bail to appear before court again on October 6.
