Here’s a list of the latest emergency warnings published by the SES. We’ll update it over the course of the evening:

The SES has issued the following flood warnings:
- Moderate flood warning: Avoca River, downstream of Charlton. Minor flooding at Quambatook.
Instructions: “Stay safe - avoid the flooded area. Be aware of potential hazards caused by flooding and never enter floodwater.”
- Major flood warning: Yea River, flooding occurring at Devlins Bridge
Instructions: “Move to higher ground. Act now - immediately take actions to protect your life and property.”
- Flood Watch: Broken Creek. Moderate flooding expected in Werribee and Maribyrnong catchments.
Instructions: “Stay informed - monitor your local conditions and remain alert.”
Heavy rains, flash flooding and extreme weather are forecast to last across Victoria for days. Expect delays. Plan ahead. Follow updates here:
The below V/Line train services have been closed due to flooding:
- Ballarat: Coaches are replacing Ararat line trains for part of the journey.
- Bendigo: Coaches are replacing Echuca and Swan hill line trains for part of the journey.
- Geelong: Coaches are replacing Warrnambool line trains for part of the journey.
- Seymour: Coaches are replacing all Seymour, Shepparton and Albury line trains.
NSW Transport has said the Southern Cross to Central Station rail line has been closed due to flooding.
“Due to severe weather conditions in Victoria causing closure of the rail line, CLK624 Melbourne to Sydney XPT service is replaced by a coach service for the entire journey,” the short statement said.
“Plan ahead and allow extra travel time.”
The SES has issued the following watch and act orders:
- Major warning: Acheron River at Taggerty is at 2.84 metres and rising, with flooding expected to exceed major flood level on Thursday evening.
- Major warning: Sunday Creek at Tallarook – further rises possible with forecast rainfall.
“Move to higher ground. Act now – immediately take actions to protect your life and property,” said SES.
- Moderate warning: King Parrot Creek peaking at Flowerdale. Renewed rises are possible with forecast rainfall.
“Stay safe – avoid the flooded area. Be aware of potential hazards caused by flooding and never enter floodwater,” said the SES.
Herald Sun reporter Olivia Condous has published video footage of flooding in Seymour, the latest town to come under evacuation orders.
The SES has said floodwaters in Seymour are rapidly rising, and has advised anyone in the town to relocate to a relief centre at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre at Chittick Park.
The safest evacuation route is via Anzac Avenue.
“When you leave, remember to take your pets, mobile phone and medications. Floodwater is dangerous – never enter floodwater,” the SES said.

Emergency services were door-knocking homes in Rochester, but many residents had chosen to stay. An evacuation centre has been established in Echuca for those who decided to leave.
The town centre was quiet on Thursday night, although one pub was still serving customers in the early evening.
