MLB postseason schedule Monday: A full day of baseball - True Blue LA

abasalaka.blogspot.com

It was an exciting extra-inning finish in Beantown Sunday and the Pale Hose extended their season for another night, holding off Houston to set up the last day with four games in one day this season.

Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves (series tied 1-1)

A little brunch and baseball for those on the west coast as the series shifts to Atlanta, starting at 10 a.m. PT. The Braves were able to steal home field advantage with a 3-0 win on Saturday at American Family Field.

Both teams will go with a young right-hander in Game 3, Freddy Peralta for the Brewers and Ian Anderson for the Braves. Peralta had a wobbly August and September (4.70 ERA) and hasn’t pitched in a game since September 26.

The 25-year-old was actually warming to possibly come into Game 1 despite Manager Craig Counsell saying Sunday that Peralta has been the Game 3 starter since July.

Houston Astros at Chicago White Sox (HOU leads 2-1)

It took four hours and 27 minutes (I would have guessed longer) for the White Sox to keep their season alive with a 12-6 win over the Astros Sunday night. Chicago fell behind 5-1 early but came roaring back to force a Game 4.

The two clubs get back after it Monday night as the Astros try to close out the series for the second night in a row.

Carlos Rodón takes the ball for the White Sox in his first career postseason start. The lefty was 13-5 with a 2.37 ERA in 132.2 innings pitched over 24 starts in the regular season, striking out more than five batters per walk.

The Astros will counter with Jose Urquidy in his third straight year with a postseason start. The right-hander had a solid year when healthy, going 8-3 with a 3.62 ERA in 107 innings pitched.

Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox (BOS leads 2-1)

The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead in the short series, shocking the Rays with a Christian Vazquez two-run homer in the 13th inning to walk it off and send Fenway Park into a frenzy.

The American League wild card winners have taken the best team in the AL to the brink of elimination. Tampa Bay needs a win to Monday afternoon to send it back home in a winner-take-all Game 5.

Eduardo Rodriguez gets the start on three days rest for Boston after throwing only 41 pitches in Game 1. The left-hander allowed four of the nine batters he faced reach Thursday and was charged with two runs in 1.2 innings of work.

The Rays will likely go with a bullpen game of sorts and it could be started by either Collin McHugh or Michael Wacha.

San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers (series tied 1-1)

The late game Monday comes in the form of the Dodgers and Giants in an important Game 3. Los Angeles stole home field from the Giants with a big win Saturday and will hope to capitalize at home for the next two nights.

Max Scherzer will start for the Dodgers, hoping to forget the shaky outing in the NL Wild Card game Wednesday. The right-hander will be making his 20th career postseason start and his manager is confident he will get the job done.

“We made this acquisition for him to be an ace, a stopper,” Dave Roberts said Sunday. “When he takes the baseball, we expect to win.”

An old friend will oppose the Dodgers, with Alex Wood trying to match Scherzer’s every move. The 30-year-old spoke to the media Sunday about being with the Dodgers last year and why he chose not to return.

The Dodgers will shuffle up the first base position again in Game 3 with a lefty on the mound. Albert Pujols will get the start and we also know Will Smith, AJ Pollock and Chris Taylor will also be in the lineup.
