Western Australia is on alert after two ship crew members berthed in Fremantle were rushed to hospital with fears they could have Covid-19.
Two crew members of an oil and chemical ship have been taken to a WA hospital by ambulance with fears they could be infected with Covid-19.
WA Health on Saturday said the crew members’ test results were expected on Sunday.
On Tuesday, the captain of tanker Stolt Sakura notified WA Health that 12 out of 22 crew members had returned inconclusive results from rapid antigen tests.
Two crew members were immediately transferred to hospital after the ship berthed at Fremantle on Saturday.
The crew members were in a “stable condition”, a WA Health spokesperson said.
“At this stage it is expected that all other crew members will remain in isolation or quarantine on board the vessel, pending the test results,” they said.
The ship left Singapore last Sunday and had previously sailed to South Korea, China and Taiwan.
