Coronavirus Australia live news: Crisis Cabinet talks to decide the duration of Sydney's lockdown, Victorian contact tracing underway to investigate cross-border case - ABC News

Changes for Sydney ahead of Xmas

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has flagged "modest changes to restrictions over the Christmas period".

Here's how they're shaping up:

Regional NSW:

There will be no changes for those living in regional NSW.

Greater Sydney:

Residents in Greater Sydney will now be allowed to have children under 12 in their homes in addition to the total of 10 per household for the next three days.

"So 10 adults and kids under 12 would be allowed in any single household," the Premier said.

"Over that period, on 27 December, for greater Sydney, we revert back to just 10."

Northern Beaches:

The northern beaches will be separated into two different zones, with a new boundary at Narrabeen Bridge.

"If you're a resident of the northern part of the Northern Beaches, if you live north of the Narrabeen Bridge and east of the Baha'i Temple at Mona Vale roads, you cannot leave your area," Ms Berejiklian said.

"You are still in lockdown. You can't accept anybody were outside your community and I apologise for that but we have to maintain a lockdown in that area."

Those in the northern zone will be allowed to have five people in their home on the 24th, 25th and 26th, but they must be people from within that region.

Those in the southern zone (such as Manly or Dee Why) will be allowed to have 10 people into their home on the 24th, 25th and 26th. However, they can't leave the area.

"You can have other people come in from the region or other parts of Greater Sydney," the Premier said.

"But you can't leave. We don't want people from the Northern Beaches mingling in other parts of Sydney at this stage but you can welcome people in."
