VideoThe 7NEWS helicopter has captured the dramatic moment a fireball erupted next to a house in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale as a bushfire rages through the area.

Residents in two more areas just outside of Perth have been told to leave now as the seventh emergency bushfire warning was issued in just three days.

The sixth fire sparked near the intersection of Hopeland Road and Elliott Road in Keysbrook at about 11.35am. DFES has issued an emergency bushfire warning for part of Keysbrook, Myara, Nambeelup, North Dandalup, Serpentine and Whittaker in the shires of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and Murray, southeast of Perth.

Later in the afternoon, residents in the City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring were also told to evacuate after a fire advice was upgraded to emergency level for Wooroloo, Bailup and Gidgegannup about 2.45pm.

The bushfire is mere kilometres away from the still-burning Parkerville blaze and is moving fast in a north-easterly direction.

The fires follow bushfires in Manjimup, Eaton, Toodyay, Lancelin and Parkerville — where WA Premier Roger Cook today confirmed three homes had been lost.

More than 200 homes now without power

Western Power has advised the bushfire has now affected power supply to 265 homes and businesses including Keysbrook, Serpentine, North Dandalup and Whittaker.

Western Power says the network operations centre will backfeed where possible to restore power.

“Those within the bushfire zone will not be able to be restored until crews are able to access the fire ground under the direction of DFES,” the release stated.

Evacuation centre opened in Toodyay

Residents impacted by the emergency-level fire burning in parts of Bailup, Gidgegannup and Wooroloo can now access an evacuation centre in Toodyay.

The Department of Communities has set up a centre at Toodyay Memorial Hall at 117 Stirling Terrace.

The bushfire emergency warning remains in place for people east of Toodyay Road in an area bounded by Bailup Road, Dinsdale Road and across to Lilydale Road in parts of Bailup, Gidgegannup and Wooroloo in the City of Swan and the Shire of Mundaring.

If you are in the warning area leave north towards Toodyay, if the way is clear.

Not just fireys working hard for WA

While DFES fights the ferocious flames from the air and on the ground, it’s the Department of Communities that mobilises to open evacuation centres.

Since Wednesday, more than 60 staff from the department and its partner services have been working to support residents impacted by the bushfires, which now total seven.

It also has Emergency Relief and Support staff on standby for emergency situations.

Evacuation centres have opened in Swan View, Toodyay, Guilderton, Eaton and Byford as hundreds of people were forced to wait for news of their homes at various community centres across the State.

A department spokesperson said “eight service delivery partners have been activated under the State Support Plan”.

This includes the Australian Red Cross, YouthCARE and Foodbank for support with “immediate shelter, coordination of food, essential personal items, and psychological first aid”.

“An additional 18 Communities Emergency Relief and Support staff have been assisting with planning, logistics, data, reporting and communications functions,” the spokesperson said.

DFES’ community liaison unit was at the Toodyay and Swan View evacuation centres yesterday, providing information to impacted residents.

Communities will link with other partners like Foodbank to provide food packages as people are cleared to return home today in Toodyay, the spokesperson siad.

Good signs in Keysbrook

The bushfire burning through parts of Keysbrook, Nambeelup and North Dandalup has slowed, in a promising sign for fireys on the ground.

While the emergency warning area remains in place, DFES’ latest alert said the blaze was no longer rapidly spreading and was now “moving slowly in an easterly direction”.

Temperatures are slowly dropping later into the afternoon, which will also help crews on the ground and in the air.

Water bombers work to douse Bailup blaze

Around 90 firefighting appliances have been sent to combat the blaze raging out-of-control in parts of Gidgegannup, Bailup, Wundowie and Wooroloo.

The fire has already burned east of Bailup Road and is moving in a fast north easterly direction.

A DFES spokesperson said up to 70 hectares of land has already been impacted by the fire.

It is unknown if there has been any property loss.

Water bombers were seen combating the blaze from the skies on Friday afternoon as firefighters dealt with multiple bushfires across WA.

If people are in the emergency warning area they are urged to evacuate now towards Toodyay or Wundowie.

Resident fears two homes already gone from Keysbrook blaze

Vet nurse Shanay Otto was heading closer into the Keysbrook fire to help treat horses burnt in the blaze.

“My husband is in there trying to help some horses that have been injured in the fire,” she said.

Ms Otto said she feared a couple of properties were already wiped out by the fast moving fire.

“I was part of the Yarloop fires a couple of years back so it’s been devastating to see the impact on people and their livelihoods,” she said.

“Hopefully they get it under control soon.”
