Driver in 140km/h crash hit with 11 charges - news.com.au

The teen driver allegedly involved in a severe high-speed crash which hospitalised a woman and three children has been charged with 11 offences overnight.

On Saturday, a total of seven people – including the driver and his two passengers – were taken to hospital after a sedan and an SUV collided on the intersection of Milperra Road and Cooraban Road in Milperra just after 2am on Saturday.

Police allege the sedan was going at 140km/h on a 70km/h road at the time, with the alleged collision occurring just officers activated their lights and sirens.

The driver of the sedan was charged with 11 offences including three counts of aggravated dangerous driving (more than 45km/h over the limit) occasioning grievous bodily harm, three counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and three counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct.

He was also hit with an offence for negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and driving more than one passenger under 21 years old after 11pm while on a P1 license.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

On Saturday, paramedics were called to a “high speed crash” at the intersection and raced the occupants of the SUV to hospitals in Westmead with serious injuries but non life threatening.

The three children, aged 10, 14 and 15, and a woman in her 40s were trapped in the SUV after the collision and had to be extracted by Fire Rescue NSW.

The driver of the sedan was also taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.

His two passengers, both 18-year-old men, were taken to Liverpool Hospital with minor injuries.

Photographs from the scene on Saturday afternoon show piles of rubble mixed with what appear to be items of clothing and other knick knacks.

Nearby strewn shards of glass and metal, a plastic green P-plate could be seen.

Police have established a crime scene and inquiries are ongoing.
