Naomie Richings was trapped in her home when it burst into flames. Her husband James escaped before suffering burns when he returned to try to help her out of the house.
Emergency services arrived at the scene about 5.45am, finding the house already "well-alight". After putting out the blaze, they found Mrs Richings but were unable to revive her.
"Officers from Fire and Rescue NSW entered the building and rescued two children; they were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics suffering the effects of smoke inhalation," NSW Police said in a statement.
"A short time later, firefighters located a woman in the front room; however, she was unable to be revived," police said.
"A man had escaped the blaze but suffered burns when attempting to re-enter the home."
Mr Richings and the two children were taken to Orange Base Hospital.
Authorities are investigating what caused the deadly fire.
"This is a tragedy that will be fully investigated," superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said.
"FRNSW is unable to comment on the details around this fire however there is at least one action everyone can take immediately to be safer in their home," he said.
"That is to make sure you have a working smoke alarm fitted on all levels that is less than ten years old."
Investigators are waiting for the building to be deemed safe before then can enter the home to determine what caused the fire.
A crime scene has been established while investigations are underway.
An ignitable liquid detection dog is assisting to find the cause of the fire.
