Fatal Molong crash treated as domestic-related incident by police - ABC News

A two-vehicle crash in New South Wales' Central West which killed a mother-of-three and left a man in a critical condition is being treated by police as a domestic-related incident.

NSW Police are investigating the crash between a sedan and ute which occurred on Speedy Street, Molong, on Friday.

The 36-year-old female driver of the sedan was found dead at the scene, while two of her passengers, girls aged eight and 13, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the ute, a 35-year-old man, was freed from his vehicle and remains in a critical condition at Royal North Shore Hospital.

A NSW Police spokesperson confirmed to the ABC that the two drivers were known to each other and they are treating the crash as a domestic-related incident.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Speedy Street about 3:40pm on Friday.()

Community grieving

Cabonne Council Mayor Kevin Beatty said the small community of Molong had been left in shock following the tragedy.

"The community is grieving," Cr Beatty said.

"This young family was well and truly entrenched in town, and quite involved.

"You walk down the street and everybody knows each other ... just a very warm community which is now completely shocked."

Cr Beatty said he expects the community to rally around the woman's children.

"Their life has been turned upside down in an instant and I'm sure they're going to need a lot of support and my heart goes out to them and all the family members involved in this."
