Freight train carriages derailed after collision in south Sydney - 9News

Pictures from the scene in Banksmeadow showed 10 carriages had come off the track, with three lying on their side.

Firefighters are inspecting the scene to work out if any hazardous materials are involved.

But thus far the containers are believed to be empty and no injuries have been reported.

It's unknown if passenger train lines will be affected at this stage.
