The last day of the NBA regular season is usually a fairly dull affair. It doesn't typically take 82 games for the standings to be set, so, aside from the occasional outlier, the last night of games usually involves a lot of rest and a lot of no-name backups. That's not the case on Sunday.
The condensed 72-game schedule has made each game more meaningful, and as a result, virtually every seed in both conferences is up for grabs. We may know the top 10 teams in each conference, but entering Sunday's action, we have no clue at this stage who is going to finish where. Thanks to the newly adopted play-in round, the distinction between seeds Nos. 6-10 has never been more important, and with the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers lurking somewhere at the bottom of the Western Conference bracket, there could be some maneuvering today in the hopes of avoiding them.

That's not the only big story of the day, though. The Golden State Warriors held off a furious fourth quarter rally by the Memphis Grizzlies in order to lock up the No. 8 seed, pushing Memphis to the No. 9 seed and a matchup against the No. 10 San Antonio Spurs in the play-in tournament. Also, Stephen Curry didn't need very long on Sunday to lock up the 2020-21 scoring title over the Washington Wizards' Bradley Beal. It marks Curry's second scoring title of his career.
There is still plenty of room for shuffling at the top of both conferences. Already getting the job done Sunday were the New York Knicks, who clinched the No. 4 seed in the East after edging the Boston Celtics 96-92.
