A man reported as sleeping in his car in the middle of the road in Sydney's inner-city has been charged with supplying almost $400,000 worth of cocaine.
Police were called to Wentworth Avenue in Surry Hills about 8pm on Saturday after a passerby noticed an SUV stopped in the middle of the road and saw that the driver appeared to be asleep.
Officers removed a 37-year-old man from the vehicle before a search revealed cocaine, $1000 cash and three mobile phones.
The man was charged with supplying a prohibited drug and granted bail to face court on November 26.
However, further investigations led police to execute a search warrant at the man's home in Danks Street, Waterloo, on Sunday afternoon.
Officers from Strike Force Odin raided the apartment about 2.30pm and found a stash of drugs, cash and weapons.
Police discovered more than 1.5 kilograms of cocaine worth about $375,000, as well as $43,850 in cash.
Officers also seized 44 rounds of .22 calibre rifle ammunition, a set of knuckle dusters, some drug scales, a money-counting machine, Xanax tablets, and steroids.
The man was arrested and charged with six further offences: supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug; two counts of possessing a prohibited drug; possessing ammunition with a permit; possessing a prohibited weapon; and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.
The man was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court on Monday.
