Victoria has had its first death in a month as the state recorded a 31st consecutive day of no new coronavirus cases.
The Department of Health and Human Services on Monday morning reported the latest fatality was a “previously cleared COVID-19 case” and died from complications “relating to their original diagnosis”.
“The case was a woman in her 70s who was part of a small group of cases diagnosed in late July,” the DHHS said.
“She was cleared as an active case in late September. In line with the national case definition, this is a COVID-related death as no recovery occurred from time of infection. Our condolences.”
Zero cases were reported from 5030 tests in the past 24 hours on Monday.
It brings the state’s death toll to 820 since the start of the pandemic.

Queensland and South Australia will reopen their borders with Victoria on Tuesday, with NSW having lifted travel restrictions last week.
It comes as a man breached quarantine and went shopping while infectious in Adelaide after a “misunderstanding” when he initially tested negative.
The man visited the Intensive English Language Institute at Flinders University Sturt Campus, with South Australia’s chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier saying it was “critical” people responded to the cluster update on Sunday.
