National Cabinet endorses vaccine policy
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says a national vaccination policy has been endorsed by National Cabinet, as the Federal Government announces that a Queensland-made vaccine for coronavirus could be widely available by the end of 2021.
Mr Morrison said the vaccination guidelines were an important step to help Australians live with the coronavirus pandemic.
"The national vaccination policy of the Commonwealth was endorsed by the National Cabinet today," Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra.
"It's another sign that together as a country we are working to prepare ourselves to be able to disseminate and administer those vaccines all around the country when they're ready and when they've passed the necessary TGA approvals and to ensure they are safe.
"Once we have cleared those important benchmarks, then we must be in a position to disseminate and administer those all around the country and that requires the usual support of states and territories."
The policy includes the regulation of vaccines, their acceptance from manufacturers, storage and transport to specified sites across the country and ensuring that appropriate data collection and monitoring systems are in place.
