Murder charge over machete attack at Landsdale petrol station - PerthNow

A Perth man will face court accused of murder following an altercation involving a machete at a service station.

A man in his 20s died after being struck with the weapon at Landsdale about 4.15pm on Thursday.

Police allege two men had been fighting outside the service station when a third man approached the victim and hit him with the machete.

He died at the scene.

A 28-year-old man was taken into custody after being located by rapid apprehension squad officers.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Peter Healy declined on Friday to comment on where the man was arrested or whether the men were known to one another.

“At the moment there is no risk to community safety,” he told reporters.

Mr Healy said the confrontation would have been witnessed by multiple people and police and partner agencies would check on their welfare.

Police on Saturday said a 28-year-old man from Darch had been charged with murder and would appear before Northbridge Magistrates Court later in the day.
