Police seize $30m worth of methylamphetamine, driver arrested on Mid North Coast - ABC News

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man following the seizure of $30 million worth of methylamphetamine on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.

Police stopped Thanh Dat Nguyen, who was driving an SUV on the Pacific Highway at Nabiac, at about 10:30pm yesterday.

They allegedly found 20 kilograms of meth in the car.

Police later searched a Bankstown unit in Sydney.

They said they seized $138,000 in cash, a luxury watch and drug paraphernalia.

The 26-year-old was charged with two counts of supply large commercial quantity prohibited drug and one count of knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail at Taree Local Court today and is scheduled to face court again on June 21.

The arrest comes after a 17-year-old boy was arrested by Queensland Police earlier this month during a car stop.

Both vehicle stops were part of ongoing investigations by the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad and Queensland Police into a drug syndicate transporting drugs between NSW and Queensland.
