A boy, 17, has died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree south of Adelaide.
SA Police said police and emergency services were called to Lake Plains Road at Lake Plains, about 64 kilometres south of Adelaide, about 2:35am on Sunday after reports a car had crashed into a tree.
The young Strathalbyn man, the driver of a Honda station wagon, died at the scene.
SA Police said Lake Plains Road would be closed for all traffic between Taverner Road and Borrett Road for several hours.
There have now been 43 lives lost on South Australian roads this year, compared to 20 at the same time last year.
A new, fast-tracked road safety campaign was launched last month in a bid to improve driver behaviour after a horror start to the year's road toll.
