The 26-year-old man was apprehended by detectives at the airport this afternoon and taken to Surry Hills police station where he is assisting with inquiries, NSW Police said.
The alleged gunman could then be seen jumping out of a Mazda 3 that had been parked next to the gate and firing six shots into Sabbagh's car.
Investigations under Strike Force Pemak are continuing.
