Residents in Oakford and the shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale have been urged to evacuate because of a bushfire.
An emergency alert was issued for people in an area bounded by Spears Drive, Old Dairy Court, Peters Way and Kargotich, Abernethy and Nicholson roads on Wednesday afternoon.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services have warned that people in the area are in danger and need to act immediately to survive, with the fire threatening lives and homes.
“Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute is deadly,” a DFES alert said. “If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home.
“Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
“Go to a room in your home away from the firefront and make sure you can easily escape.
“Choose a room with two exits and water such as a kitchen or laundry. If you are not at home, it’s too dangerous to return.”
The blaze, which is moving in a north-easterly direction, was reported at 11.18am. It is not clear how it started.
