Kona Craft Kitchen + Bar to Bring All-Day Eats to Bridge Park - columbusunderground

A new restaurant will fill a gap in the Bridge Park dining scene. Opening at 6757 Longshore St. this fall, Kona Craft Kitchen + Bar will offer that daily trio of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Developer Crawford Hoying says breakfast fare has been often requested but infrequently found in the area. Kona will come to the rescue with a focus on elevated breakfast dishes including eggs, root vegetables, kimchi bowls, french toast and more.

Kona describes their lunch and dinner menus as healthy and colorful, but there’s a side of indulgence, too. They’re expecting the Smashburger to be a lunchtime star, but will also offer lighter fare like salads. Dinner takes a seafood focus with wild prawns, fresh sea bass and more.

An in-house pastry chef will whip up baked goods and desserts daily, with savory and sweet pastries, sandwich buns and bread available for grab-and-go purchase.

“We’re excited to bring healthy and fresh selections to the dining experience,” said Stacy Leary, who owns Kona with her husband, Frank. “All of our menu items will be made with the most wholesome and locally-sourced ingredients.”

The name and menu have been heavily inspired by the Leary’s time traveling in Hawaii. The namesake Kona coffee will be served all-day, as will a menu of craft cocktails and draft beers.

“We’ve always had a dream of opening and operating a restaurant on our own,” said Frank Leary. “After retiring, we traveled for six months looking for inspiration. With Kona, we are setting out to create an experience of our own cultivated from the experiences we’ve enjoyed most.”

Long-time Dublin residents, The Learys have extensive industry experience, making their careers in the food, beverage and hospitality industries.

Work on the space, across from the new North Market Bridge Park, will start this summer. The restaurant will feature two outdoor patios, an indoor-outdoor fire feature, 12-seat bar and private dining room.
