FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio

Disorderly conduct: Lorain Road

On Oct. 25, officers were called to the In The Drink bar on a report of an intoxicated patron causing problems. When officers arrived, they saw a man leaning up against the wall smoking a cigarette.

Patrons pointed at the man, advising officers that this was the man in question. Officers began to talk with the man and asked him what was going on. Officers could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The man also had glassy eyes and slurred speech.

The man began to talk about getting into a fight at another bar, but he was hard to understand since he was slurring his speech. The man refused to give his name, saying that he did not do anything wrong, so he did not need to give officers any information.

The man finally gave his name and date of birth and sat down on the floor. He said he needed to go to the hospital since he had a headache from one of the fights that he had been in while at the bars.

The bartender and other patrons reported that the man had been walking up and down Lorain Road drinking all day before arriving at the bar. He asked to be served, but, given his condition, he was refused service.

That’s when he began to cause problems and refused to leave. He was cited and transported to a local hospital.

Protection order violation: Brookpark Road

On Oct. 20, officers responded for a welfare check after a 42-year-old resident said she heard banging coming from her next-door neighbor’s attic.

Officers went to the neighbor’s home and found that everything was fine and that the woman who called had been in the home within the hour prior to contacting officers.

A check found that the woman had a protection order against her, prohibiting her from being at her home due to a prior domestic violence incident. She was arrested.

Drugs: Cromwell Avenue

On Oct. 20, a man was reported slumped over the wheel of a car. When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old Cleveland man in the car. Investigators and paramedics quickly realized it was not a medical issue, but possible drug abuse that caused the concern.

After being medically cleared, officers asked the man to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Based on his performance and other indicators of intoxication, he was arrested.
