Six teenagers have been charged over the fatal stabbing of a teenage boy in Melbourne's west on Tuesday, as the boy's parents say they forgive those accused of attacking their son.
Key points:
- The parents of stabbing victim Solomone Taufeulungaki said their son's spirit would always be with them
- Police allege Solomone was attacked by a group of males on Tuesday afternoon in Deer Park and died at the scene
- Police have charged six boys aged between 13 and 16 over the death
Police allege Solomone Taufeulungaki was stabbed after he was approached by a group of up to 10 males outside Brimbank Shopping Centre in Deer Park just after 4:00pm yesterday.
The 15-year-old died at the scene.
Six boys aged between 13 and 16 have been charged with violent disorder and affray.
They are due to face court shortly.
Police arrested six people at the scene of the crime on Tuesday, before a fight broke out between about 30 people.
Two people were taken to hospital after the brawl, including a police officer.
Solomone's parents, 'Atumaisa and Salome Taufeulungaki, spoke to the media at the scene of the stabbing on Wednesday, where they said they believed their son was still with them in spirit and forgave those allegedly responsible.
"We all die in a different situation," Mr Taufeulungaki said.
"Every Sunday my son came to this church, I believe every Sunday his spirit will join with us in this church."
Both parents said seeking revenge would not do any good and they felt love for the boys who were accused of attacking their son.
"We don't know them but we love them. We bless them," Solomone's mother said.
'Every morning you will see him with a smile'
Sitiveni Antonio was a friend of Solomone and said he was "a bright person with a bright personality".
"He's just like a flower, every day, every morning you will see him with a smile, you just don't see the pain in him," he said.
"He shows his happiness, he shows his excitement.
"He was like a joker, he makes everyone laugh.
"He will be missed very much."
Sitiveni said the death of his friend was "devastating".
"It's really hard, because you can't find anyone else with that kind of smile he had, no one can beat it," he said.
Sitiveni said it had been a "really emotional" time for friends and family.
"It's really hard to explain. Everyone is just crying."
The 16-year-old said violence in the area was not something he used to worry about.
"But now I'm really worried because knows who's next," he said.
"I just have to stay safe out here and I know that our God will protect us with his blood and his warm love upon us all."
