'A pretty cold start': City shivers through one of the coldest mornings of the year - The Age

Melburnians have shivered through one of the coldest mornings of the year so far, with some suburbs recording sub-zero temperatures.

Frost blanketed parts of the city as the mercury slumped to 2.2 degrees at around 7am in Melbourne - but according to the weather bureau, it felt more like 1.3 degrees. Sunday also marked the coldest day of the year so far with a low of 1.7 degrees in Melbourne.

"It was a pretty cold start to the day, but it should be beautiful and sunny later on once fog in some areas lifts," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Christie Johnson said.
