Coronavirus case prompts closure of Strathmore Primary School as Victoria's COVID-19 total grows by nine - ABC News

A primary school in Melbourne's north has been closed after one of its students tested positive for coronavirus.

The grade five student at Strathmore Primary School is one of nine new cases recorded in Victoria today.

Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said two other new cases have been linked to a previously diagnosed patient at Monash Health, and one new case is linked to an extended family cluster in Coburg.

Two of the new cases confirmed today were returned travellers.

Yesterday two schools in Melbourne, St Dominic's Primary School in Broadmeadows and Pakenham Springs Primary School, were closed for contact tracing and cleaning after students at each tested positive for COVID-19.

More to come.
