Teenager charged with attempted murder after 19yo allegedly stabbed with hunting knife on Brisbane's southside - ABC News
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after a teenager was allegedly stabbed with a hunting knife on Brisbane's south side on Friday.
Police said the 19-year-old victim was allegedly stabbed in the leg, lower abdomen and stomach outside an Acacia Ridge house about 2.30pm.
He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, has undergone surgery, and remains in intensive care.
Police said the alleged offender was found just 50 metres from the attack, which was called in by neighbours.
A weapon was found on the street.
"Witnesses said they heard a fight, raised voices. They believe that there was a wrestle on the ground. They thought what was believed to be a punch was thrown," Inspector Karl Hahne said.
"One of the witnesses said when the two males parted, that's when she saw a knife in one of the male's hands, so that's when she realised somebody had been stabbed."
Inspector Hahne said the teenagers knew each other.
The 17-year-old has also been charged with threatening violence and possession of a knife in a public space.
He has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear before the Richlands Childrens Court on June 27.
Police are calling on the public to come forward if they witnessed or may have dash cam footage of the 19-year-old victim walking along Gregory Street, Acacia Ridge, between 2pm and 2:30pm on Friday.
It's the second stabbing in the suburb this week. Shortly after midnight on Sunday, a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death at Mortimer Park. A 30-year-old man was charged with murder.
Speaking shortly after Friday's alleged stabbing, Inspector Hahne said police did not believe the attacks were linked.
"It's unfortunately two incidents that have occurred geographically close to each other. But we've made no link and we're treating this as a standalone event at this stage," he said.
