Former FBI agent Phil Andrew has spoken of his concerns for missing Perth brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, saying the fact one of their phones was in the hands of a third party is a concern.
Fears are growing for the two brothers, aged 30 and 33 respectively, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, who went missing while travelling around the Ensenada area of Baja California in a Chevrolet Colorado ute.

Sunrise reports a woman and two men have now been arrested as the brothers’ family frantically try to get a flight to Mexico.
Joining hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington on Sunrise on Friday, Andrew explained the phone being found in the hands of another person was disturbing for investigators.
“This additional information that their phone was in a third person’s hands, that creates concern,” he said.
“They’re in an area that is difficult to police and very remote, and there are reports of increased level of crime there.”
Barr questioned Andrew on what is the “most likely scenario” for the missing trio.
“Given the amount of time, we have to assume that something has happened and, if this was a kidnapping, we may have already heard some sort of demand or some kind of information,” Andrew said, adding the arrests may lead to further information.
“It’s going to be helpful to have people that have a nexus to this, including the three that have been arrested — but it might be helpful if there is some sort of attempt to make a demand.
“I think it is going to be very difficult for any kind of ransom situation to be successful with this much publicity on it.
“It’s very difficult to do that and have a safe way of communicating to the kidnappers.”
Loved ones said the group had been surfing at K38, a well-known cluster of surf breaks in the area, but then failed to check in to the Airbnb accommodation they had booked.
Callum, who lives with Type 1 diabetes, has also not returned to work this week in San Diego as planned.
Jake, a doctor, is understood to have travelled from Perth to join his US-based brother on the surfing adventure.
Their mother, Debra Robinson, has pleaded on social media for information about the pair.
“Reaching out to anyone who has seen my two sons,” Robinson wrote.
“They have not contacted us since Saturday.
“Please contact me if you have seen them or know their whereabouts.”
‘Really quite distressing’
WA Premier Roger Cook said the situation “must be very worrying for the families involved”.
“When we do send our young men and women overseas to enjoy that adventure holiday, they invite an element of risk and this is really quite distressing,” Cook added.
“I understand one of the individuals has a medical condition that would need ongoing care.
“I share concerns of all Western Australians in terms of their welfare.”
In 2015, WA surfers Adam Coleman and Dean Lucas were murdered, believed to have been shot by gang members in Mexico’s volatile Sinaloa region, before their van and bodies were burnt.
