'Hopefully we can knock it on the head'
The update has some Queenslanders fearful for the days ahead.
Vanessa Foote was one of several people lining up to get groceries in Greenslopes before lockdown began.
Essential activities like grocery shopping and exercise still allowed over the weekend.
"Feeling pretty nervous, especially with my newborn and especially with the UK strain and seeing the line of people here, so yeah pretty nervous," she said
"We were lucky to get a carpark, it was bedlam downstairs."
Geoff Coachey from Holland Park usually does his weekly grocery shop today, but this week he had to wait for about an hour in the line at his location Coles.
"We heard on the radio this morning it started up again so we thought we better get in quick and it's pretty crazy in there - we had to wait about an hour - but we have to do this (the lockdown) because we have to stop it now.
"Hopefully we can knock it on the head.
"We aren't trying to stock up we just thought we'd get something before the rush started."
