Coronavirus Australia live news: Wentworthville and Belmore added to SCG ban, patrons told to wear a mask - ABC News

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard is speaking now.

He says the situation in Victoria, where a man in his 30s who attended the cricket at the MCG on December 27 and has since tested positive to COVID-19, is "obviously influencing our thinking".

"About what we should be doing to keep New South Wales safe but still enjoy the opportunity of seeing a test. Yesterday, I made some announcements about some suburbs where people, if they work or they live, absolutely should not attend the SCG, the Sydney test.

"I'm going to add two more suburbs to that. So I will just, for clarity, read those out yet again. Auburn, if you're a resident or if you have worked, or if you have been in Auburn, Lidcombe, Potts Hill, Rookwood, Wentworthville and Belmore, you're not entitled to visit the SCG and see the test.

"We have added Wentworthville and Belmore on the basis of public health advice. If you do attend, if someone else has brought you a ticket, you may be stopped by the very large police presence, if you cannot prove you're living outside those areas, you'll be exposed to a $1,000 fine"
