While police were searching the vehicle, the 39-year-old passenger allegedly tried to throw a coffee cup containing meth into a nearby bin. He was arrested and charged with supplying a prohibited drug, and was granted bail on Tuesday. He was ordered to self-isolate for two weeks.
A total of 24,956 vehicles were checked on Monday by Victoria Police on main arterial roads, and more than 5000 spot checks were conducted on people at home, businesses and public places.

In the early hours of Sunday, a 16-year-old was found with a handgun after the car he was in was pulled over on Bridge Inn Road in Mernda by police carrying out coronavirus restriction checks. He was charged by police and issued a fine for breaching the restrictions.
Fifty-seven Frankston police officers were isolating on Monday after two colleagues tested positive to COVID-19, while an officer in Swan Hill was also in self-isolation after his wife was diagnosed with the virus.

On Tuesday, a police spokesman said the total number of officers in the state who were self-isolating was difficult to pinpoint because the figure was changing by the hour as test results came in and officers returned to work after receiving a negative result.
No officers had received a positive test on Tuesday, including those in Frankston and Swan Hill, but police were still awaiting some results, he said.
Premier Daniel Andrews said on Tuesday about 1000 members of the Australia Defence Force would join Victoria's effort to suppress the coronavirus, which he said would allow police to stay focused on compliance activities.
