NSW Police officers were forced to shut down a number of parties flouting social distancing in the eastern suburbs on Saturday night.
Nine News reported that one party, in particular, had over 100 guests at a house in the eastern suburbs home on Saturday night before an after-party was held at another location in Bondi.
Guests spilled out of the house into outside areas, with many seen wearing face masks.
"A number of private parties were shut down due to non-compliance with social distancing guidelines, with attendees moved on from the area," a police spokeswoman said.
One twitter user took to social media to post images of what appears to be the leftovers from a party in Woollahra's Cooper Park.
"This was how #cooperpark in the eastern suburbs was found this morning after a group of #COVIDIDIOTS decided to party there," she wrote.
Police have since issued a reminder to the community that large gatherings are not permitted as part of current COVID-19 restrictions.
"Police would like to remind the community that the current Public Health Order restricts outdoor public gatherings or visitors to a home to not more than 20 people, after officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were called to a number of noise complaints in the area overnight [Saturday night]," a spokeswoman said.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Sunday that she was disappointed to see people flouting social distancing rules over the weekend.
"I get extremely concerned and upset when we see people flouting the rules that are in place because that will take us down the path of Victoria," she said. "We are literally at a crossroads – the next month is absolutely critical."
The warning comes after police were called to a trial rugby match in Sydney's eastern suburbs over COVID-19 concerns.
Officers were called to Eastern Suburbs Rugby Club on Saturday afternoon amid social distancing concerns, where a Shute Shield trial game against Sydney University was being held.
They left the venue, with inquiries into the event continuing.
"About 3.40pm yesterday (Saturday), police were called following concerns over physical distancing at a rugby game in Bellevue Hill," a police statement read. "Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command are conducting inquiries. No further information available at this time."
