Culver School Board Reviews Reentry Plan - wkvi.com

The Culver Community School Board looked at the reentry plan for students and staff during their meeting last week as the corporation prepares for the first day of in-person instruction on Aug. 12.

The plan outlines procedures in place if someone is COVID-19 positive who attends school there and the procedures throughout the day pertaining to student and staff safety.  It makes specific references to cleaning procedures, hand washing and the repeated use of hand sanitizer throughout the school day, and the identification of a separate space in school buildings to respond to symptomatic students, among many others.

Superintendent Karen Shuman said masks will be required to be with students and staff throughout the day, but measures are being taken so they do not have to be worn all day.

“Right now we are currently moving classrooms around so that we definitely have six feet and that our class rosters are within that six feet perimeter,” explained Shuman. “We’re hoping that allows the masks to be removed at some point in time during the school day because we’ve been able to meet that social distancing within the classrooms.”

The plan will be amended as school officials adapt to the health environment and guidance with Health Department officials.

“We’re creating an interactive webpage that parents and faculty can go to to stay updated as the changes happen in this fluid event.”

The plan can be seen on the school’s website.
