Mi Familia de Mi Tierra at The Rim is marking one year of business with $1 margaritas all day Thursday.

The newest member of La Familia Cortez's group of restaurants is the first extension outside of the downtown area. The restaurateurs also own Mi Tierra, La Magarita and Pico de Gallo in and around Market Square. The Rim restaurant, which mirrors Mi Tierra's signature style, with papel picado and Christmas lights strewn across the ceilings, opened Nov. 19 last year.

The restaurant is celebrating its first year of business, much of which was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, on Thursday with an "all-day party" starting at 11 a.m.

Along with $1 margaritas, there will be tequila tastings, piñatas, folklorico performances "y mas," event details say. Like any birthday celebration, the restaurant will also give out "adult goodie bags" to the first 30 guests.

Mi Familia is located at 18403 Interstate 10 West. Thursday hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
