Early results put ACT Labor in the lead in Canberra's southern-most electorate of Brindabella, as the first dump of votes on who should govern the ACT is reported.
About 45 per cent of the vote has been counted in the electorate of Brindabella, with a swing so far of 7.5 per cent towards Labor.
The first results out of Brindabella suggest Labor's Joy Burch and Mick Gentleman, its two longest-serving politicians, will be re-elected.
Canberra Liberal MLAs Mark Parton and Nicole Lawder also look set to return — but the fifth seat in the electorate remains a three-cornered race between the major parties and the Greens.
"I would be lying to you if I said we were happy with where we are at the moment," Mr Parton said.
The early results show a 3 per cent swing against the Liberals in the southern seat, and a 5 per cent swing towards the Greens.
Across the ACT more than 20 per cent of first preference votes have been counted, showing a 1.4 per cent swing to Labor territory-wide.
The swing against the Liberals, with a fifth of the vote counted, is 4.3 per cent.
COVID-19 set the scene for an unusual voting period this year.
Pre-polling was open to all voters for three weeks before the official voting day to help ease crowding.
It meant about 70 per cent of Canberrans had already voted before today.
With most people voting at electronic booths, those results were able to be calculated almost instantly.
Elections ACT said 91 per cent of eligible voters cast a vote today.
More to come.
